NEW DELHI: The Centre on Thursday said that it is aware of the matter regarding the illegal entry of Pakistani national Seema Haider into India.Responding to media queries about Haider, whose case has gained widespread media attention, ministry of external affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that the issue is currently under investigation."We are aware of the matter.

She was presented before the court and is now out on bail.

The matter is under investigation and we will give you further information if it comes," he said.

Seema Haider, who hails from the Sindh province in Pakistan, had entered India illegally along with her four children in a bus via Nepal on May 13.

She said she had come to live with her Indian lover Sachin Meena who stays in Rabupura area of Greater Noida. On July 4, she was arrested by the local police for entering India illegally while Sachin was held for sheltering illegal immigrants. However, they both were granted bail by a local court on July 7 and have been living together along with her four children for the last few days.Seema, whose Pakistani husband works abroad, has said she does not wish to go back to her country and wants to live with Sachin in India. She also claims to have adopted Hinduism.Pakistan's intelligence agencies have informed the country's government that "love" is the "only" factor that led the mother of four to sneak into India to live with a Hindu man whom she befriended through an online game platform, a media report claimed this week.During a probe here too, the UP Police found that Seema and Sachin came close to each other while playing PUBG game in 2020.

Later, both exchanged numbers and began to communicate. However, a section of the media has claimed that Seema was an ISI agent and must be deported.Earlier this week, the couple were also questioned by the Uttar Pradesh Police's Anti-Terrorist Squad.

On the ATS questioning, the state police said two video cassettes, four mobile phones, five "authorised" Pakistani passports and one "unused passport" with incomplete name and address, and an identity card have been received from Seema Haider.Asked if Seema could be a Pakistan spy, UP Police Special DGP Prashant Kumar asserted nothing could be said so early.

"The matter is related to two countries.

Till we have enough proof, it would not be appropriate to say anything in this regard," he had said.(With inputs from agencies)WatchWho is Seema Haider? Is she a Cross-border 'lover' or Pakistani 'spy'?
