The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is undoubtedly one of the top-selling sub-4m SUVs in the Indian market ever since its arrival.

While it was initially offered as a diesel-only offering, the current second-gen model is available with a sole 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, along with an optional CNG kit.

This engine has been offered with a 48V mild-hybrid system that offers a slight torque boost, as well as better efficiency thanks to an idle start-stop system. However, it has now come to our attention that Maruti Suzukihas silently removed the 'Smart Hybrid' tech from the manual variants of the Brezza.Hereafter, the mild-hybrid technology will only be offered with the automatic variants of the SUV.With the mild-hybrid tech, the Brezza MT had a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 20.15 kmpl, however, the mileage figure has now dropped down by 2.77 kmpl to 17.38 kmpl for the manual version.

Do note that the claimed fuel efficiency for the automatic variants (with the mild-hybrid tech) remains unchanged at 19.80 kmpl.Hyundai Exter Review: Can it Punch out its rivals? | TOI AutoApart from the removal of the mild-hybrid system from the Brezza MT, Maruti Suzuki has also made a few other changes, including the addition of seatbelt reminders for all five seats as standard.

A couple of safety features have also been removed from the Brezza CNG i.e.

Electronic Stability Program and Hill-Hold Assist, which will now only be offered with the non-CNG variants.

No price revision has been made to the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

The SUV continues to be priced from Rs 8.29 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh (ex-showroom).What do you think about Maruti Suzuki's decision to remove mild-hybrid tech from Brezza MT, along with ESP and Hill-Hold Assist from Brezza CNG? Let us know in the comments down below.
