VIJAYAWADA: A 14-year-old Indian-American girl has been missing since January 17 from Arkansas state in the US, with police indicating she might have run away due to the fear of leaving America as her father faced the possibility of lay-off from his company.
Tanvi Marupally, who was staying with her parents in Conway, Arkansas, was last seen on CCTV footage when she left for school, Conway police tweeted.
She is the only daughter of Pavan Roy Marupally and Sridevi Edara and they belong to the Telugu-speaking community.
However, it is unclear which district in AP or Telangana they hail from.Pavan, who works in a tech company, faced the possibility of losing his job due to ongoing lay-offs in the technology sector.
However, a video recently posted by him and his wife informed that he is no longer at risk of losing his job.

Your mother is back in the US and she can work with any employer even if I lose my job."According to AP Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS), Tanvi's mother Sridevi lost her job in the recent layoffs in US and came to India in November 2022.
She returned to US in January on a dependent visa.
Since Tanvi's disappearance, local police, neighbours, and Tanvi's family have been searching for her.
Tanvi's kin is offering a reward of $5,000 to whoever brings her home.
