BHOPAL: A woman passenger was gangraped by two men claiming to be police constables at Mungaoli railway station in MP's Ashoknagar district late Friday night.The 31-year-old survivor and her husband had missed a train and were waiting to catch another to Jaipur, Rajasthan, when two men, in civilian clothes, approached them.
The duo identified themselves as Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel and demanded to see their tickets and IDs.When the couple requested to see their identification, an altercation ensued and one of the men slapped the husband, says the complaint.
The duo forcibly separated the couple.
While one of the assailants dragged her into nearby bushes and sexually assaulted her, the other thrashed the husband.
The two men took turns to rape the woman and fled the scene.The couple filed a complaint with local police, who registered a case of gangrape.
Investigators are going through CCTV footage to identify the suspects and have asked for information from the public.(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court's directives on cases related to sexual assault)
