During the first semi-final of ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand on November 16, Disney+Hotstar recorded a peak concurrency of 5.3 crore viewers.
The highest number of viewers were recorded during the last overs of the second innings, moments before Indias win against New Zealand.
India won the semi final match by 70 runs, bowling out New Zealand at 327 in 48.5 overs.This surpasses their previous record this month, when Disney+Hotstar recorded a peak concurrency of 4.4 crore viewers during India vs South Africa match in the league round.
The streaming platform clocked in 4.6 crore viewers when Virat Kohli hit his 50th ODI century during the match.
IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated Kohli on his 50th century on social media platform X, mentioning that the 4.6 crore live viewers tuned in to watch the milestone.
He then, also went on to highlight the 5.3 crore record viewership, writing -! Shamis seven wicket haul entertained 5.3 crore online viewers.On October 22, Disney+Hotstar recorded 4.3 crore concurrent viewers during the live broadcast of India vs New Zealand World Cup match, surpassing the previous record of 3.5 crore concurrent viewers set during the India vs Pakistan match on October 14.It's not just Team India breaking records with their 10th straight win at the ICC Mens Cricket World Cup 2023.
