IMPHAL: The Manipur government on Tuesday lifted the suspension on broadband internet conditionally in a "liberalised manner".The decision comes nearly three months after the internet was banned in response to the ethnic violence that occurred in the state.
However, mobile internet will continue to remain suspended, the home department said in an official notification.Manipur Violence News Live Updates"Connection will be only through static IP and that the subscriber concerned shall not accept any other connection other than allowed for the time being [TSP/ISP shall be held responsible for non-compliance of this condition]," it said.
"No Wifi Hotspots shall be allowed from any of the routers and systems using the connection at any cost by the subscriber concerned," it said.
In response to the adverse impact of the internet ban on offices, institutions, and individuals working remotely, as well as the hindrance in accessing essential online services such as mobile recharge, LPG cylinder booking, and electricity bill payments, the government has decided to take a more lenient approach.
The suspension on broadband internet has now been lifted, but with certain terms and conditions that need to be met.(With inputs from PTI)
