There is nothing that can fluster Ashneer Grover as he gets honest about his journey in a conversation at the Times Litfest 2023 Delhi.
Ashneer was welcomed as the visitor speaker at the celebration.
He discussed his recently composed narrative titled Dogalapan, published by Penguin India, with Suhel Seth.Ashneer spoke about coming from a joint Punjabi household, cohabiting and staying connected with the area, and also about his love story with his spouse Madhuri and her miscarriage.
His individual journey has witnessed many ups and downs however Ashneer still handles to find silver linings in all his dark days.
Excerpts from their conversation: How were these early years of yours in Malviya Nagar?Malviya nagar is a refugee nest my grandparents had originated from Pakistan and they got a 200 gaj plot after the department in between the sons.
We all started constructing our homes one above another which is how we all have actually been residing in a house with different kitchens however all together.
In the past, there was this concept of a nest.
We understood everybody in the lane and it was a close-knit set-up.
We needed to make for ourselves and grow as there was no support.
I have very fond memories of Malviya Nagar, I had almost altered 3-4 houses there and now just a couple of years back I got out of the area.

The reason for it was that there were lovely ladies.
There I satisfied Madhuri and I lagged her pleading for one lunch date.
We had a common friend whom Madhuri stated, There is some Ashnoor guy which girl asked her to keep away from me.
I was also determined and her father familiarized.
Her papa felt betrayed and that too of a caste boy who isnt that well off.
For two years, her dad took her back to Panipat.
That is when I shifted to Ahmedabad for IIM.
I still remember her uncle used to call me Refugee.
He didnt even attend our wedding event.
I used to come to Delhi one day early from Ahmedabad and stay with Madhuri at her PG.
We always thought the PG aunty didnt know about me once when Madhuri went to meet her after I came, she informed Madhuri, he is the very same man right? That shocked us that she understood all of it along.
What made you choose to leave Mumbai and return to Delhi?While I was operating in Kotak, it was simply Madhuri and me so we utilized to adjust the salary.
Even when my moms and dads utilized to come, they would leave in a day or two as they utilized to taunt me that my house is quite little.
In the 2 years, we also began missing the family and if your roots arent from Mumbai, then it is really challenging to stay for long.
Madhuri had a miscarriage and she went back to Delhi.
I went to my office and informed them about it and they let me shift back too.
After that I never came back, I just kept giving them factors and one day there was a do-or-die minute where I chose to quit Kotak.
So when Madhuri had the miscarriage, I decided to return to Delhi and never return.
