Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister, on Sunday stated that the 20-year war did a great deal of harm to the environment, especially in terms of air quality and nature.

Addressing an occasion to mark a national tree planting campaign organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Badam Bagh area of Kabul city, Mullah Baradar said: && During numerous decades, making use of unsafe bombs and chemical weapons by the intruders has actually had a bad effect on our nation&& s air and nature.

& Mullah Baradar likewise stated that the IEA appreciates programs such as tree planting projects.

&& We make sure that many remote lands will be green and nature will take advantage of this,& & he said, including that && Afghanistan is an agricultural country with lots of water and an ideal natural environment.&& He further stated that the only method to eliminate the effects of this polluted environment and deadly chemicals is to plant plants and trees.

At the meeting organized on the occasion of the national project of planting saplings, Baradar asked all residents, specifically Kabul residents, to plant a minimum of one sapling in their own garden and to take care of it.

&& This is not just a task and the duty of the government, but every resident of the country should work in this location to make our nation green and have a good environment,& & rdquo&; Baradar said.

& I make certain that if this work is done, in the next few years, all areas of Kabul will be green,& & Baradar added.
