12 issued to the Kuda Gaga sub-basin and flood warning message No.
10 issued to the Aththanagalu Oya basin on Monday have been lifted.The Irrigation Department also mentioned that it remains on alert about changes in rainfall and water levels of rivers across the island and that in the event of a flood situation, all necessary measures have been taken to forewarn the public.Meanwhile, the warning mentioned in the flood warning for the Gin Ganga basin first issued on September 28, has been extended for another 24 hours until 09.00 a.m.
tomorrow (11).The relevant warning has been extended although the flood situation prevailing in the lower valley of the Gin Ganga basin is on a gradually decreasing trend as the effects of the flood are still witnessed in some areas.Thereby, the residents of and motorists driving through these areas have been advised to pay high attention in this regard.
Disaster Management Authorities are requested to take adequate precautions in this regard.As per the latest situation report issued by the Disaster Management Centre today, a total of 46,060 individuals from 12,722 families across the island have been affected by the current inclement weather.
The Southern Province remains the hardest hit with 30,686 people being affected thus far.Meanwhile, 1,245 houses across the island have been partially damaged, while 28 houses were completely damaged owing to the adverse weather conditions.
