In accordance with the new electricity tariff revision, the rate charged per one unit of electricity for the first 30 units in the domestic category, is increased to Rs.

30 from the previous rate of Rs.

08.It has also been proposed to increase the Rs.

10 charged per unit for the units consumed between 31-60 up to Rs.

37 and for consumption block of 61-90 units up to Rs.

42.

Earlier, the charge per unit for the units consumed between 61-90 prevailed at Rs.

16.Meanwhile, no revision has been made for the rate charged per unit in the 91-120 electricity unit range, which was Rs.

50 as well as the Rs.

75, which is levied from those who consume units over 181.Furthermore, the fixed charge for the first 30 units consumed will be increased up to Rs.

400 while the fixed charge for the unit consumption ranging from 31-60 has been revised to Rs.

550.

The fixed charge for the units consumed between 61-90 will be revised up to Rs.

650 accordingly.The relevant fixed charge for the consumption of electricity units between 91-120 and 121-180 has increased to Rs.

1,500.Thus, for the first 30 electricity units consumed under the category of religious places, the fee of Rs.

08 per unit has been increased to Rs.

30, and for the consumption block of 31-90 units, the price of a unit which was Rs.

15 has been increased to Rs.

37.

Also, Rs.

50 will be charged per unit above 180 units.For religious places the fixed charge will be revised as follows;0-30 units – Rs.

400 31-90 units – Rs.

550 Over 180 units – Rs.

2,000 For the industrial sector, the fee charged per unit under the first 300 units has been increased from Rs.

20 to Rs.

26 only.  The fixed charge of Rs.

960 charged for the first 300 units has been increased to Rs.

1,200 and the fixed charge of Rs.1500 for every industry consuming electricity units above 300 has been revised to Rs.1,600 only.For the category of general purpose, hotels and public institutions, the unit fee for the number of units consumed below 180 units has been increased from Rs.

25 to Rs.

40, and for the consumption block above 180 units, the unit fee will be Rs.

47.The fixed charge for public work, hotels and public institutions, the fixed charge of Rs.

360 for the first 180 units will increase to Rs.

1000, and the fixed fee of Rs.

1500 to Rs.

1600 for categories above 180 units.
