KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 19Armed Police Force, Nepal has deployed 29,154 armed police personnel under its special security scheme targeting the festive season. Special security plan in place for festivals UN Security Council approves sending a Kenya-led force to Haiti to fight violent gangs According to the security plan, approximately 2,929 armed police personnel will be ready to be deployed immediately while approximately 75 per cent of the personnel will be mobilised in the field.

The special festival security plan has been prepared for the service, safety and rescue of citizens in the border areas and other places during the festive season.According to the APF, the units across the country have established help desks (civil support rooms) at 125 locations and health desks (civil health support rooms) at 33 locations in coordination and cooperation with the security personnel from India and China to assist in the rescue work of citizens affected by disasters in the border areas.

Likewise, trained dogs have been mobilised to identify illegal weapons, explosives and drugs in Mechi Bridge of Kakarbhitta, the eastern border of Jhapa. There are patrolling teams and checkpoint duty personnel to prevent and control criminal activities that may occur during Dashain, Tihar, Chhath and other festivals.

Similarly, immediate rescue teams with ambulances have been mobilised in 53 sensitive places of the highways.The APF has mobilised trained human resources equipped with rescue gear and other kits on standby position in eight places in the event of disasters.

They include Mulghat in Dhankuta, Nijgarh in Bara, Adamghat in Dhading, Beni in Myagdi, Baluwang in Dang, Chipley in Surkhet, Amargarhi in Dadeldhura and Khurkot in Sindhuli.

Likewise, eight ambulances equipped with medical personnel and Mass Casualty Vehicle have been kept on standby in all seven provinces and Kathmandu valley so that injured persons can be rescued immediately and taken to the hospital in case of any major accident.Under the plan, 563 locations have foot patrols, 366 locations have mobile patrols, 37 locations have long range patrolling, 209 locations have quick response teams and check point and 373 locations have picket duty.The duty will be monitored by APF headquarters keeping in mind the sensitivity of the capital city.
