BENGALURU: Bengaluru was ranked the second-most congested city in the world during 2022 in the city centre (BBMP area) category, according to the traffic index published by Dutch location technology specialist TomTom.On average, it took 29 minutes and 10 seconds for Bengalureans to cover 10km in the CBD area during 2022.

The average speed was 22kmph.<br /></p><p>Bengaluru was the 10th most congested city in 2021 and was sixth in 2020.<br /></p><p>The report said the worst day to travel in the city centre of Bengaluru in 2022 was October 15, a Saturday.<br /></p><p>That day, the average travel time to drive 10km was 33 minutes 50 seconds in the city centre.<br /></p><p>Bengalureans spent 260 hours (10 days) in driving and 134 hours due to congestion.<br /></p><p>The emission (yearly) released was 1009kg CO2 emitted and 275kg due to congestion.<br /></p><p>The worst rush hour was on Fridays between 6pm and 7pm.

Bengaluru was the 10th most congested city in 2021 and was sixth in 2020.

During these years, there were no bifurcation of a city into city centre and metro areas.The report said the worst day to travel in the city centre of Bengaluru in 2022 was October 15, a Saturday.

That day, the average travel time to drive 10km was 33 minutes 50 seconds in the city centre.

In fact, the average travel time increased in Bengaluru last year.
