AHMEDABAD: Doctors at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation-run LG Hospital achieved success in a challenging microsurgery procedure to reconstruct the genitals of a man whose penis was severed during a brawl.A statement from the hospital revealed that 20 days ago, a 35-year-old man arrived in critical condition, his penis severed.

“He arrived around 11am on November 7.The doctors from the plastic surgery department reattached the severed organ using microvascular microsurgery.The entire procedure took about five hours,” the hospital statement said.On Tuesday, the doctors announced that the surgery was completely successful, and the patient has recovered fully.Reattachment of a severed penis is a complex surgery as it involves reconnecting blood vessels and the urinary tract.

“Currently, the young man has recovered and is doing well.

He will soon be discharged from the hospital,” the statement said.
