GARHWA: A 30-year-old married woman from Tisartetuka village under Meral station limits in the Garhwa district was allegedly forced to lick spit from the shoes of a panchayat member, do 100 sit-ups, publicly beaten with shoes, and fined Rs 56,000 for allegedly committing adultery, which the woman denied.The woman, belonging to a minority community, refuted the charges and filed a complaint with the police but claimed that they refused to register it.Subsequently, she filed an online complaint on Wednesday night, prompting a immediate response from the district SP, who directed the Garhwa SDPO to investigate matter, which he termed it "shameful".

The local police station also immediately filed an FIR against eight persons.The incident, which occurred on the night of August 15 this year, came to light late on Wednesday night after the woman filed the online FIR with the Meral police station.

In her complaint, the victim also accused that she was forced to do 100 sit-ups and was branded as a witch as punishment for committing adultery.In her online FIR, the complainant also claimed that she had approached the Meral police station on August 16, but the officers on duty ignored her complaint and did not register an FIR.
