Ukraine and the European Union will hold a top in Kyiv on February 3 to talk about financial and military assistance, President Volodymyr Zelenskys office stated in a declaration on Monday.Zelensky discussed details of the top-level meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in his first telephone call of the year, the declaration stated.
The parties discussed expected results of the next Ukraine-EU top to be hung on February 3 in Kyiv and consented to intensify preparatory work, the declaration read.The leaders spoke about the supply of suitable weapons and a brand-new 18 billion euro ($ 19 billion) monetary support programme to Ukraine, with Zelensky pushing for the first tranche to be sent this month, it said.Last month, the EU cleared the way to providing Ukraine the help in a so-called megadeal that included the adoption of a minimum 15 percent international corporate tax rate.The relocation followed an impassioned plea from Zelensky not to let internal conflicts within the 27-nation bloc stand in the way of support Kyiv.Source - AFP
